Ashlee Simpson celebrated her 23rd birthday with a precious ’80s-themed party at her parents’ house a couple weeks ago — and has now leaked the pictures for our viewing “pleasure.” Lucky us! BF Pete Wentz was the Prom King to Ashlee’s Prom Queen. Or was it the other way around? Regardless, I have to ask…
Did guys really wear ruffled suits in the ’80s? I went to the prom in the ’90s, myself, but I remember ’80s suits being of the Miami Vice white-and-pastel variety. As for ruffled suits… I believe my dad wore them in the ’70s. Was he just ahead of his time?
Um… and Ken Paves? Ashlee’s bangs need to be at least four inches higher, preferably with a claw. Of that, I am certain. And where are the shoulder pads? The acid wash? The headbands? The pale pink Wet ‘N’ Wild lipstick? The jelly bracelets…?

My Formal ( our term for prom ) was 1987. I wore a black tux, shiny black with shiny electric blue cummerbund. The suit came with a fire hazard training video - I’m joking or course.

October 14th, 2007 at 6:25 am - ReplyYes, you can tell from Ashlee’s pose the girl loves her nose…….I think she poses that way either to accentuate it or look at it, (or both.) But she did remember the jelly bracelets, she has about 30 on one arm, but they are black. I could have done this party so much better!!!!(if I had her money). But still, I coulda rocked this and I’m kinda jealous I didn’t get to 1st. Coulda held it at the local skating rink and think I might! Could make a great halloween party… Definitely the men had pale jackets (whites or pastels) with a metallic cumberbund and tie in the shade of their dates dress. Of course, Ashlee’s bangs should have been higher, so much higher, but love the white shoes with the black and pink ensemble…….

Obvisously your parents didn’t teach you the very first thing they shoulda… if you have nothing nice to say than keep your damn mouths shut. Why can’t you people leave these poor kids alone. It’s pretty clear they care alot about each other, they make a cute couple, and it’s really NONE of anyones business but theirs what they do. I’m all about the gossip rags, but jeesh enough already. I’d rather read about what funny, crazy in love thing they did than if she got botox or if she got plastic surgery. who cares if she did. she looks great, he looks great, let them be in love!

As for commenting on the party, it looks like it was fun and the theme’s a classic. Who cares if it’s 70’s or 80’s? No need to obsess over it, find something better to do.
