Tameka Foster Tells Haters to Talk to the Hand

Why do I have such a hard time letting go of ’90s slang…?

Usher’s new wife and babymama, Tameka Foster, is tired of people talking sh*t about her, telling Essence magazine that:

“We (black women) don’t like ourselves. If I were Hispanic, Usher would have the sexiest wife alive. If I were mixed, he’d have the sexiest wife alive. But he has a black girl, and it’s like, ‘She’s horrible and she’s ugly!’ OK, maybe I don’t fit the cookie-cutter standard — 25 and a size two — but this is who he loves. There are women getting raped in Darfur, young girls being turned out every single day right here in Atlanta. We have bigger issues to worry about than two people in love with each other.”

So it’s a race thing…? Huh. And here I thought people were just taking issue with the member between “her” legs. Goes to show how little I know.

hmm… so she thinks people are trading in their ’save darfur’ tshirts for ’save usher’ ones? i hadn’t realized she was that big of a threat.

    6. Julie says:

I thought people gave her crap not because she’s black but becuase she’s twice his age????

    7. Neecie says:

She can’t speak for all African Americans because I am African American myself. I love who I am. Her statement is going to upset a lot of African American women. She can only speak for herself. If she really loved who she was she wouldn’t spend her time defending herself and worry about what people say. Maybe she should think about that.

    8. Holy Terror says:

Hmmm, I was one of the ones questioning their relationship, but she DOES make a good point. It’s more the point for-wait for it I’m coining a phrase here, “Trophyism.” The more famous the man, the more perfect a woman we expect him to date. Imagine the slings and arrows we ordinary women would suffer, if we showed up at a premier with say George Clooney or Patrick Dempsey. They would tear us apart for not being the model/actress type. How many men would be able to stand up to that type criticism, without sending us packing? Usher’s the man. She kinda swayed me for sure.

    9. Happy Go Lucky says:

Um, I think the issue is that she’s not pretty–
not the fact that she’s not Hispanic or mixed…
People wouldn’t be talkin shit if Usher married
      Naomi Campbell.
She’s kind of saying that all Hispanic and mixed
women are good looking. Personally, I like that
assumption b/c I fit into one of those catagories :-D
In all seriousness, Holy Terror def has a good
      point.

    10. Wawa says:

The issue is that she already has a bunch of kids and drove a wedge between Usher and his mama.

      That is all.

    11. Happy Go Lucky says:

She drove a wedge b/w usher and his mom b/c he’s
a mama’s boy. the mama’s boy needs to get off
      the teat.
