Amy Winehouse – who, I hear, may have a few teeny-tiny issues with drug addiction — has agreed to attend a one-week rehab and detox treatment course in Israel… that is, right after she has a big blow-out (emphasis on blow) over the holidays.
A “friend” told The Sun:
“She’s been taking more drugs than ever. It’s become like having a cup of tea. Amy has agreed she will sort her life out in the New Year. She wants to give the performance of her life in L.A. [at the Grammys]. But she’s going to throw a party over Christmas, which will probably be a messy affair. ”
Oh, Amy. Your attitude reminds me of my diet resolutions: “Okay, I’m going to start my diet next year. No, seriously, for real. Which means I can gorge myself with Chicken McNuggets, pints of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownies and caramel apple martinis for the next few weeks!” Then, of course, I feel so icky after gorging myself, that I cheer myself up with chocolate-covered pretzels. (Damn my niece and her Girl Scout goodies!)
Let’s just bite the bullet now, shall we? Off to the Betty Ford Clinic for you, Amy — and the Betty Crocker Clinic for me.

she’s going to need more than one week in rehab.
December 14th, 2007 at 7:01 pm - ReplyOh! The agony of defeat.
“I said No, No, No…”
December 14th, 2007 at 7:08 pm - ReplyThat is a terrible picture of her! And there’s been some bad ones of late.
December 14th, 2007 at 8:13 pm - ReplyJeez, i know, i mean, knew a number of people who died on their last blow-outs … frankly, i will be surprised if she makes the grammies … i wish her no ill, but the media infatuation with her is just another celebrity-porn noise distraction …
December 15th, 2007 at 1:39 am - ReplyYou can say what you want about Amy but I’m tellin ya what I know, the girl can “throw down” when it comes to singin!
December 15th, 2007 at 3:47 am - ReplyThose Brits have such interesting junkies-Amy, Pete Druggerty, etc what do WE have?
December 15th, 2007 at 5:24 am - ReplyFriggin Mel Gibson.
Oh yes, and CANDY!
December 15th, 2007 at 5:25 am - ReplySorry, sweety, didn’t mean to dis the sugar thing!
kisses!
Does she ever run a comb through that hair?
December 15th, 2007 at 5:43 am - ReplyThe hair is fake. It’s merely a storage container for coke, horse, and wine bottles.
December 15th, 2007 at 11:06 am - ReplyI’ve been to the Betty Ford Clinic she’d like to go to… it’s a club in Portland! No joke!
Also, Mel is Australian…
December 15th, 2007 at 11:28 am - ReplyI’m sure all the hospital emergency
wards are on alert.
This woman is a genuinely sad case.
(P.S. Mikaela: Mel was born in the U.S.
December 15th, 2007 at 2:33 pm - ReplyHe grew up in Australia. I thought he
had dual citizenship, but I could be
wrong.)
Either way in terms of citizenship, any chance Australia could take Mel back? We could keep that cute guy from Nip/Tuck instead.
December 15th, 2007 at 4:19 pm - Replyshe looks like a addict in this picture,i really dislike her,and I saw she has a personal blog on “WealthyKiss.com”, a private site for millionaires&celebrities I heard of from a friend of mine. The blog is updated very often. I think it may be ture
December 15th, 2007 at 7:06 pm - Replyyeah vernice, I dig the british junkies too.
December 16th, 2007 at 2:43 am - Replymaybe because they’re more talented than ours.
Javelin, oh my, I think you are right! But remember, America had Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin… and guys like Page are still alive! Maybe it’s just the Brits’ turn!
December 16th, 2007 at 5:36 am - ReplyMidevil, Javelin,
December 16th, 2007 at 5:57 am - ReplyDo you think it’s because the Brits are less repressed than we are becoming as a society? (Thanks to the smoke and mirrors example we’ve been getting from our government)And they accept their eccentrics more easily?
Or that people with real talent are recognized elsewhere, while we still have to contend with nosejobs who sing and look “pretty” for the camera. Kind of ironic that American “idle” came from England.
Vernice,
As one Palestinian told me a long long long time ago, in the weeks after 9/11:
The American people are the most suppressed people in the world.
That came from a Palestinian refugee, I kid you not.
Maybe the Brits have the capacity to accept mental illness (including drugs and sex etc), whereas we in North America (much more of late) must present an ideal while covering up our illnesses and vices. Poor Titney, in example, can’t seem to maintain the ideal anymore (not that she has any talent, in comparison to Wino). Is this dual identity we each much present a leftover from the wicked Puritanical Times?
December 16th, 2007 at 10:34 am - ReplyMidevil,
December 16th, 2007 at 12:35 pm - ReplyI am floored that a Palestinian refugee would say that, but it sadly seems true. We have so many artificial freedoms but all we really do is support the capitalist machine.
I totally blame organized religions for the imposed duality, though.
And it seems lately religions are extending their influences, which really bothers me.
It appears we don’t learn anything from history.
I know, eh. I was floored–but he’s right.
Yeah, the only thing I’ve learned from history is that it repeats itself! Hahahaha.

December 16th, 2007 at 12:49 pm - Reply(I feel I know you well enough to call you Mid)
That was a reeeeeeeeeeeeeely bad pun!
Thank you ever so!
If I may butt into this conversation, Amy
Winehouse has talent. Actual talent. Now
compare that to say, Kate Moss or Lily Allen–
really just your average British junkie/drunk,
she is admired b/c she is GOOD. Meanwhile
American ‘idols’ Britney, Lindsey, Paris, etc.
are lacking in talent. Lily is cool, but she’s
no voice like Amy, hence I dropped Lily like a
bad habit but still cheer on Amy.
It’s kinda sad. I think I just said that talent
December 16th, 2007 at 1:21 pm - Replyis endearing in the entertainment industry. :-\
Sad indeed….
Happy Go Lucky,
Hey, you can butt in wherever whenever however you want, it ain’t my space. Yeah, Wino is like the old Jim Morrison, eh? Same as Doherty–that guy bleeds poetry even in his sleep. So, you make allowances.
Is there a current American equivalent?
December 16th, 2007 at 1:28 pm - ReplyVern,
Aye, that’s what people who know me call me, Mid. I am so glad you see it how it is, instead of that wretched Me-Devil crap.
p.s. I hope I got it right (Vern)?
p.p.s. Bad puns on a good day!
December 16th, 2007 at 1:30 pm - ReplyI alway thought Midevil was clever as a name and the stuff you write as well.
December 16th, 2007 at 1:44 pm - ReplyVern cracks me up, so much cooler sounding than Vernice.
I would hope Everyone would butt in, it’s way more fun!
I agree about Lily, fun but no Amy who I confess I was for Halloween, and of course no one around these parts knew who she was and no one else was dressed up but my hubby in a suit for his costume so needless to say, I stuck out like a sore thumb.
Luckily I had a lovely glass of wine so I didn’t mind. But I could barely keep the wig on much less hide anything in it.
vern
Oh my, you got pics??? I was Wino for my friend’s wedding–as a bridesmaid. Hair spray! I didn’t hide anything in my hair either, I could barely stop myself from wiping all the makeup off…
Yeah, “Midevil” stands out. The writing may actually suck in reality, but peeps are just too busy staring at the name to notice!
Well, Vern, are you going to go with it, change the name to Vern?
December 16th, 2007 at 2:44 pm - ReplyDear Mid,
December 16th, 2007 at 7:52 pm - Replyyou have inspired me-I shall be Cool sounding Vern, but, I can’t pretend I’ll be cool! (well, ok, in my head I pretend, but that’s different!)
Vern
i feel so sorry for her!
