Why, oh why, would ANY 16 year
old girl — even a mildly famous
girl with a crazy showbiz sister –
CHOOSE to be pregnant and
then a parent? At 16! With a whole
life in front of you!

With birth control devices, next-day
pills, abortion (and, for some folks,
adoption) so readily and easily
available, why is this happening?

The world is still imperfect. But,
let me assure you, it’s so much easier
now for a woman to choose to be
sexually active while still protecting
herself from STDs and pregnancy — hell,
you can buy condoms etc. at the grocery
store! And you can get birth control
pills at the clinic! Etc.

(How much easier this would have made
my choices in my young life. And,
hey, if you are of the “abstinence only”
school, don’t bother to enlighten me.
I am aware of that argument. I don’t
even disagree with it. It is the only
sure way to prevent a lot of things.
It simply isn’t realistic.)

How someone can be a responsible parent before they’re even an adult themselves is baffling. Usually some outside help is involved. But as bv pointed out, there are plenty of young mothers out there who have pulled it off with flying colours. If only they all could have it easy as this girl. At least she has no financial concerns.
