My fingers are shaking as I write this…

Heath Ledger was just found dead in a Manhattan apartment, reports The New York Times. He was 28 years old.

Police believe it may have been a drug-related death. At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Heath, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Heath’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Heath unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.

The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills, which appeared to be over-the-counter sleeping medication, near the body.

“This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet,” a police spokesperson told CNN.

So very, very sad. R.I.P. Heath.

Sad….and yet Amy Winehouse somehow still lives. Makes no sense

    11. Bobofet says:

NY Times is reporting it looks like he committed suicide..very sad

    12. Ms. Parker says:

WTF??? Until we turned on CNN and saw it confirmed there neither my roommate or I believed this…it’s incredibly fucked up…I’m in shock…total shock…jaw on the ground. I’ve never even heard the remotest rumours about Heath and drug abuse…some how suicide makes more sense to me…

    13. Carina says:

UGH THIS MAKES ME SO MAD! BRATS LIKE BRITNEY AND WINEHOUSE JUST FILLING NEWSPAPERS WITH THEIR CRAP LIVES! NEITHER OF THEM ARE REALLY ALL THAT TALENTED AND THIS GUY WAS AMAZING!

      Really, I’m totally pissed.

      R.I.P.

    14. Vern says:

It’s so sad because he was so young and really talented and it seemed like he tried to be a normal guy and good dad.

    15. Javelin says:

he was clearly uncomfortable with fame, but I didn’t think it would take such a devestating toll on him… truly heartbreaking.

    16. Bee Hind says:

My heart goes out to his daughter, who will grow up without a father.
      RIP Heath.

    17. Michael C says:

I’m in Australia, where the news reached us at ( I heard it on the radio ) 7:45 in the morning.

It’s the topic of discussion today.

He was younger than I thought, he seemed to have so much going for him . . . and then to end it like this.

      Just so sad.

    18. Gigohead says:

I was yelling at work! WTF! What is going on! Why are young people dying left and right? What is wrong with this generation? I get scared when young people die, I’m 37, so I feel death is knocking at my door if young folks in their 20’s are dropping like flies. shit.

    19. Peace says:

Wow… There isn’t even anything I can say about this. There are certain things you (unfortunately)half expect- Reports of Winehouse dying of an O.D., Britney commiting suicide/dying in a high-speed chase… but this is not one of them. Prayers will certainly be with his family and those who were close to him.

    20. bluehawaii says:

      So stunned. Too young.

      (once again)…

      …Goodnight sweet prince.

    21. jenner says:

Ms. Parker says:I’ve never even heard the remotest rumours about Heath and drug abuse

His drug use has been well known in certain circles. Which means it shouldn’t be surprising, but MAN it so is. I am so devastated by this. I loved this man, as a talent, as a hottie, as a seemingly really cool human being.

I wish I didn’t have to type this, but R.I.P Heath Ledger.

    22. Julie says:

Unbelievable. I thought it was a sick joke at first. So so sad. R.I.P Heath.

    23. Holy Terror says:

Just a reminder that life is so precious and we need to cherish every moment. I haven’ received such shocking news in a long time. R.I.P. Heath and may God console those left to mourn him.

    24. Zip says:

They have no business doing these “death perp walks” for the media. Give those who have passed away some respect. They could have easily shielded his sheet covered body, including the gurny–instead, though, they set-up a damn red carpet like press-line as they wheeled away his body. How disrespectful and mean spirited. Enough of this kind of exploitive behavior by the authorities!!!

    25. Gigohead says:

      Zip:

I don’t think it was done intentionally. It does take a few hours for the medical examiner to come to you in NYC — it’s a busy city, lots of dead bodies here. With the fast technology out there, it is now so easy to get news immediately, so the media and paps clamored quickly — even before the Medical examiner got there. It’s a shame.

I can’t believe he’s gone. Kind of a sick joke I’m telling myself.

    26. Michelle says:

My heart goes out to those closest to him and his baby girl especially. Lets hope he really does live on through her.
      I am still in disbelief…

    27. vee says:

R.I.P. HOPE THEY FIND OUT WHAT REALLY HAPPENED THINGS SMELL A LITTLE FISHIE RIGHT NOW……
