I was just on YouTube looking for Consolidated's first and only big hit...but I couldn't find the tune that inspired the sound of The Nine Inch Nails...however I found this eally cool pro-female anthem they did with a girl group who unfortunately, I have never heard of...but this should have been a underground hit!!!:

Amended:

Do you know how much money you can make off of one hit…if it is that big??? If those guys still own their song rights, they are getting paid handsomely. Unlike today…yesterday’s hits stay around…but if you hear most songs that are released in these times…the vast majority disappear and you never hear them again–and the same is true of the artists behind them.

One hit wonders have their place in music history. People like Switch (Bobby DeBarge and brother), Peter Brown, and Foxy largely inspired the sound that made Prince famous…and yet, those people are mostly forgotten about. One hit wonders Consolidated did a self titled song…and within months, The Nine Inch Nails came out with a whole album sounding exactly like them.

I recall a group called Suicidal Tendencies–The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Korn…etc., stole their sound…and or look, and created a new sound--Rap Rock. And what about Gary Newman, with the song Cars??? He gave new wave its first real all keyboard anthem changing the sound of music. I could go on…but my point is…these people…these one hit wonders helped to shape music…not all, certainly, but many–like the Sugar Hill Gang with Rapper’s Delight–the first rap song to be played on the radio, a song that is now a classic.

I have personally witnessed people become famous and fall seemingly overnight…and it all seemed like it would last forever. Nothing is guaranteed and you do the best you can, with what you can, but the entertainment industry will find a way to screw you, rip you off…and blacklist you if you dare protest the raping. Don’t believe me, ask around??? Most business these days is nothing but a pyramid scheme, and the entertainment business is no different. The execs at the top of the pyramid get rich, and richer, while ripping off investors and music acts. When you demand your money, they just fire you, destroy your name and reputation: so that you can’t get a job…and then, they hire some other acts to take your place.

You may not be a hit maker, but…I’m sure that you are a nice person…that alone is all the success you need…but the same is true for even…one hit wonders–it’s the bigger picture that counts. Just being loving is enough, for all of us!

But, Zip, I've never held myself out to be a musician with any talent like he has. They could play -- that one hit song years and years ago. Sure don't see them popping up on the charts since then. His band is back in the days of a lot of one hit wonders who flashed on the screen and then disappeared only to show up in shopping malls and other grand openings they could get bookings at. There's one thing I will say, tho -- I have no doubt he's probably a better musician than he is an actor because the only way to go from his acting skills is up.
