I think it's actually a damn good thing he's not returning to the "Star Trek" franchise. James Kirk did great fucking things--whose going to argue? It's great that Shatner has moved beyond the limiting realm of James T. Kirk. Besides, what actor would want to play the same character for over 40 years? I mean, what guy doesn't want to be such a big star that he has groupies who will throw themselves down to have his baby then and there--but to hear yourself being associated with that one character, that one identity throughout one's whole life.
