The roadside wolf-whistle: It’s hardly an uncommon phenomenon for women who dare to walk by construction sites, pick-up trucks or old folks’ homes during Happy Hour. (Hey, Gramps has needs, too.) And we all handle the blatant leering in different ways. I’m fond of the “Looking Anywhere But at the Whistlers” response. Sometimes, if I’m feeling particularly sassy (read: if I’ve had a few drinks), I may wave back facetiously or flip something… else.. at them. And if they DON’T whistle, well, then I worry and wonder if I should start hitting spinning class again.
In other words, we can’t win.
Which may explain why a woman in New Zealand took a slightly unconventional approach: She stripped down for the wolf-whistlers.
THAT’ll teach ‘em!
Yes, an Israeli tourist was about to use an ATM on a main street in New Zealand when the men whistled, so she calmly stripped off, used the cash machine, before getting dressed and walking away.

So why did the woman decide to flash her goods?
“She said she had thought ‘bugger them, I’ll show them what I’ve got’,” the police sergeant told a New Zealand paper. “She gave the explanation that she had been … pestered by New Zealand men. She’s not an unattractive looking lady. She was taken back to the police station and spoken to and told that was inappropriate in New Zealand.”
Hmmm… or perhaps she was just trying to get some singles in exchange for her twenty?
