The designer does deserve an award for that! Natalie looks gorgeous.

Scarlett looks like she can’t breathe.

    Wow, that’s amazing.

I read that book… it was good. I just hope that they don’t ruin the continuity by showing bleached and perfectly straightened Hollywood pearly whites. It’s easy enough for actors to have their teeth coloured for a role, or even wear a false set of imperfect teeth, yet they so often overlook that important detail, which makes a period movie far more realistic.

  5. midevil says:

Period movies in Hollyrude are supposed to be a complete suspension of disbelief.

  6. Exyank says:

It’s fairly easy to disguise body shape with a 16th century costume like that. Lots of padding, a corset, the stiff bodice, etc.

I do agree that the costumes are excellent, from everything I’ve seen. Also the art direction looks fantastic. I’m looking forward to this film.

I hope there aren’t any scenes where there are women with shaved armpits. That always ruins a period film, IMHO.

  7. Holy Terror says:

Oprah’s movie “Beloved” was authentic for the period with the hair and teeth and all that–such a great underappreciated movie.

  8. midevil says:

I’ve never even heard of that movie. I’ll have to check it out.
